Who can be a Trustee?

Anyone who takes responsibility for the assets and activities of a charity can become a trustee.  It is a rewarding role.   Trustees may stay with a charity for many years or just one or two years.

Trustees are usually elected by the Membership of the organisation or invited by the Management Committee because it is looking for particular skills.  However trustees join, it is important to understand responsibilities.   You may like to look at the "Trustee Code of Conduct", about the principles of trust, collaboration and respect that are involved when being on a committee .

Community Action Fareham runs regular Trustee Training sessions.  Attendance at a workshop prior to an Autumn Annual General Meeting can give current and potential trustees all the information they need to join a charity.

Community Action Fareham can advise on current Trustee vacancies within its own organisation and others in the area.
